ISSUE: Fight over height of proposed tower near Wreck Beach

UBC has proposed a 70 metre tower that will loom over Wreck Beach if they build it. For years, 53 metres was agreed on by a lot of people n agencies, to minimize the visual impact on Wreck Beach. Now, if we want to try to stop this thing, TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
UBC will decide very soon if they will allow it. But there are different ways they can provide student housing without sacrificing beds, such as building elsewhere on campus, lowering the tower and raising the height of other nearby buildings. And beach visitors won't have to see a huge tower disturbing the natural treeline and wilderness feeling we get now when we look back at the trees from the beach.
What happens next will set the precedent for future development in the area. Please, for the love of the beach, sign the petition!
